On 21 Oct 2026 Jalaj Saxena, 39, took his 35th Ranji Trophy five-wicket haul, level with Bishan Singh Bedi (ThePrint/PTI, Willow). On 6 Nov 2024 he became the first player in Ranji Trophy history with 6,000 runs and 400 wickets (Onmanorama), and on 22 Jan 2026 he reached 500 first-class wickets (Navbharat Live). He has never played for India. On air on 15 Oct 2025, two former national selectors called it surprising; one said, "Fingers must've been raised at us as well" (ESPNcricinfo). "I am still hopeful that I will play for India. But I don't have any grudges nor am I hurt," he told RevSportz in 2025. So, who failed Jalaj Saxena?
