📍 Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, India
Since 2007, Ashok Kumar Tapasvi of Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, has driven his own ambulance to accident victims for free, about 3,500 injured people so far (ETV Bharat, 26 Sep 2025). He bought the ambulance after his father died and drives it himself, because "drivers don't have the stomach to withstand the sight of blood", he told Hindustan Times in July 2018. When the Kalka Mail derailed near Fatehpur in July 2011, he drove the injured to hospital non-stop. He has also given last rites to about 450 unclaimed bodies and drives pregnant women to hospital at night. He never charges. So, an injured stranger on the road: would you stop?
