Real-money gaming ban

Is India's ban on real-money online games under the 2026 gaming rules the right way to protect players?

📍 India

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026 took effect on 1 May 2026 under the 2025 Act. They create an Online Gaming Authority, bar registration of real-money games, and permit social games and e-sports. Banks must block payments to prohibited money games (reported 22 April-1 May 2026).
