Delhi drain dumping fines

The Delhi High Court asked MCD to consider higher fines for dumping garbage in drains. Would higher fines reduce waterlogging?

📍 New Delhi, Delhi, India

On June 30, 2026 the Delhi High Court asked MCD to propose higher penalties than the current compoundable Rs 500 fine for throwing garbage into drains. The bench also directed police beat staff and civic agencies to coordinate on drain clearance, with the next hearing on July 24.
