Chami Murmu's tree drive

How many trees will you plant in the next 12 months?

📍 Seraikela Kharsawan, Jharkhand, India

Chami Murmu from Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharsawan district could not study after Class 10. Starting with 10 women, she has led planting of over 20 lakh trees, and her self-help groups reach about 30,000 women across 500+ villages (Padma citation). She says villagers first opposed the saplings, then asked her to plant on their land too. She won the Nari Shakti Puraskar and received the Padma Shri in 2024. So, how many trees will you plant in the next 12 months?
