Australia ban results

Australia's under-16 social media ban is partly working, according to its regulator. Should other countries copy it?

📍 Australia

Australia's ban took effect on 10 December 2025. An eSafety study found under-16 account ownership fell (52.4% to 42.1%) but most children still used social media; a minister defended the policy on 1 August 2026, saying full compliance was never expected.
