On 27-28 Oct 2026, BMC asked people to boil and filter drinking water for 7 days after Compartment 2 of the Yewai reservoir (Pise-Panjrapur) came back from repair; parts of Thane and Bhiwandi that get BMC water are covered too (NewsBytes, Dainik Jagran). Thane residents have complained of muddy water before: Kalwa in May 2025 (Zee 24 Taas) and a citizens' march to TMC headquarters in July 2026 (ABP Majha). From 28 Oct, TMC also shuts supply for 24 hours every Wednesday until Aug 2027 (Free Press Journal), and private tankers cost Rs 1,800-2,500 each (Urban Acres). BJP MLAs want a white paper on Rs 1,819 crore of water funds; TMC says it has fixed about 4,750 leaks. These are claims, not findings. So, who is most to blame?
