Should the UK ban social media for under-16s, as the government plans from spring 2027?

On 15 June 2026 the UK government announced it will bar social media platforms from serving under-16s, with enforcement expected from spring 2027. Messaging apps are outside the ban, and extra limits are planned on livestreaming and stranger contact. Ofcom is studying age-checking methods.
