EU digital majority age

Should the EU set a 'digital majority age' and ban social media accounts for children under 13?

In September 2026 the European Commission proposed the 'EU Kids Act', which would bar social media accounts for under-13s, allow restricted accounts for 13-15 year olds with parental controls, and ban features like infinite scroll. It needs approval from the European Parliament and Council; some member states have raised privacy concerns about age verification.
